Gurung, Dhital shine on day one

KATHMANDU, June 13: Sirish Gurung bagged five gold medal and a silver while Shreya Dhital won four gold medals on Wednesday in the Seventh Pramod Cup Age Group and Open Swimming Championship.



In the finals held at Satdobato Swimming Pool, Gurung bagged gold in 200 m individual medley with the timing of 2 minute 40.27 second. Gurung completed 50m freestyle in 29.15 second for the gold. [break]



Gurung clocked 2 minutes 23.06 seconds in 200m freestyle, 1 minute 11.57 second in 100m butterfly and 36.84 seconds in 50m backstroke to claim gold in all categories. Gurung finished second in 50m backstroke open section.



Dhital clocked 32.50 second in 50m freestyle for the gold, 35.31 seconds to complete 50m butterfly for the same position. Dhital finished 100m freestyle in 1 minute 12.09 seconds and 50m backstroke in 43.47 second. Dhital team bagged gold in 4x50m freestyle relay in U-17 girls´ category timing 2 minute 25.63 second.



In the open section, Natalia Behrend won gold in 50m breaststroke in women category while Clara Field and Sonira Bista finished in the second and third positions respectively. Dilip Thapa Magar clinched gold in 50m backstroke in men section. Miraj Prajapati finished in the third position.



In 100m men´s breaststroke, Prabesh Adhikari clinched gold while Tika Ram Thapa and Suman Maharjan finished in the second and third positions. In men´s 50m freestyle, Prasiddha Jung Shah bagged gold while Dilip Thapa Magar and Sirish Gurung finished second and third respectively.



Miraj Prajapati clinched in 100m freestyle gold in boy´s 15-17 years age group. Aditi Dhital bagged gold in 100m freestyle of 13-14 years girls section. In 50m freestyle of 10 and below age group, Tashi Doma Sherpa bagged gold. Ugen Sherpa bagged gold in 50m backstroke of 15-17 years boys´ category. Angeela Sangbo bagged gold in 50m breaststroke of 13-14 years girls section.



In 50m freestyle of 11-12 years, Yogesh Thapa clinched gold. Niharika Tuladhar clinched gold in 50m bresaststroke of 11-12 years girls section. In 50m breaststroke of 10 and under boys category Aashish Lama bagged gold. In 50m butterfly of 13-14 years girls´ Sophiya Shah clinched gold.
