Galaxy in semifinal

KATHMANDU, Dec 3: Galaxy Public School entered the semifinals of the 6th Chief of the Army Staff Inter School Running Cricket Tournament after defeating Deepjyoti School by 67 runs on Monday.



With the win, Galaxy accumulated five points from three games, including two wins and a tie, to remain on the top of the group A of the tournament. Host Army School, Bhaktapur with three points from two matches is in second position in the group.[break]



Galaxy won the toss and elected to bat at the Army School Ground, Bhaktapur on Monday. Galaxy put up 190/4 in allotted 20 overs as Nabin Budhathoki struck 47 runs off 27 balls and Aadil Khan scored 40 runs off 43 balls. Ayush Hamal added 30 runs for Galaxy. Sushil Thapa, Hari Adai and Ajay Sitaula claimed a wicket each for Deepjyoti.



Chasing the 191-run target, Deepjyoti reached 123/7 in 20 overs. Bikash Pun (28 runs) and Ajay Sitaula (26 runs) were the major contributors for Deepjyoti. Rajendra Pal and Nitesh Shah took two wickets each for Galaxy. Nabin Budhathoki was adjudged the man-of-the-match for his blistering batting performance.



Meanwhile, Greenland Children Academy edged past Rajan Memorial by 16 runs in a league match of the group B. Greenland elected to bat and was all out for 92 runs in 17.4 overs. In reply, Rajan Memorial reached only 76/8 in 20 overs as man-of-the-match Bijay Karki claimed three wickets.
