FM Khanal, UAE counterpart hold talks on West Asia situation

KATHMANDU, April 7: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal held a telephone conversation with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday.



During the call, Sheikh Abdullah extended congratulations to Minister Khanal, who expressed appreciation for the gesture, according to a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The two ministers discussed the evolving situation in West Asia. Minister Khanal expressed Nepal’s solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and strongly condemned attacks on its sovereign territory, including those targeting civilians and key infrastructure such as energy facilities, ports, and airports. He also referred to the death of a young Nepali citizen and injuries to 24 other Nepali nationals.


Minister Khanal emphasized that diplomacy and dialogue are the only means to achieve lasting peace, not war.


Sheikh Abdullah, while offering support to the Nepali community in the UAE, appreciated Nepal’s solidarity and reaffirmed the UAE government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, including Nepali nationals, the statement added.
