Far Western Region in semis

POKHARA, Sept 22: Far Western Region advanced into the semifinals of the National Hockey Tournament defeating Eastern Region on Thursday.



In a one-sided match, Far Western Region knocked out its opponent 4-0 from the tournament, which is being held in Pokhara, with goals from Suryash Joshi, Devi Singh Dhami, Niranjan Shah and Rajendra Chand. [break]



In another match, Nepal Army saw off Western Region by the same scoreline 4-0 to secure its last-four berth. Dipendra Ayer scored a hat-trick in Army´s victory while Amit Dhimal added one goal.



Army will next face Far Western Region in the first semifinal match on Friday. Likewise, Central Region will lock horns with Mid Western Region in the other semifinal.

The tournament, which is being held in league-cum-knockout format, will conclude on Saturday.



The winner and the runner-up will bag a purse of Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.
