KATHMANDU, March 3: On behalf of the EU Missions in Kathmandu and of Norway, the local Presidency of the European Union expressed its deep concern over the murder of two media entrepreneurs in Kathmandu and Janakpur in quick succession.

Issuing a press statement on Wednesday it demanded a prompt investigation into the matter and take a stern action against the assailants identifying them properly.

It has also asked all the sectors of the country to respect the freedom of opinion and rights of journalists as it believes free press is one of the most important components to ensure democracy.

The incidents of violence on media persons are gross violation of human rights and democratic norms, the statement added.
