Sharing experiences of Germany where social market economy was established by the government, Bernecke said it brings better benefits to the society. He also said research about the economic status from university was important but regretted that it would be difficult to bring about improvement in the absence of critics.

Former finance minister and CA member Dr Ram Sharan Mahat said the social market economy model would not work in the absence of democracy. “Democracy is a pre-requisite for equitable economic development.”

Responding to the Bernecke´s remark on education, Padma Jyoti, president of NBI, informed that the education sector in Nepal was politicized and most of the universities were not serious about the education system.

Another expert on social and ecological market economy, Cornelia Richter, also shed light on social market economy model.
