Speaking at a programme organized to mark the 20th memorial day of former Prime Minister Tanka Prasad Acharya in the capital on Monday, leader Nepal claimed that Nepali politicians were able to defeat any sort of anti-democratic activities adding that politicians in Nepal were habitual in democratic movements for long. The UML leader also claimed that consensus will be forged in the contentious issues of the constitution writing by today.
"We have reached the final stage of constitution writing. All contentious issues will be settled today," Nepal added.
Leader Nepal hailed the contributions of the late Acharya to the country´s democratic movement by waging protests against Rana oligarchy through the establishment of Nepal Praja Parishad Party. "Acharya´s contribution is dignified in Nepal´s history," the UML leader said.
On the occasion, Maoist leader Amik Sherchan said Nepali people will always remember Acharya´s contribution for the establishment of democracy in the country.
Likewise, chairman of Constitutional Committee Nilambar Acharya said that different democratic movements were launched on the basis of democratic movement started by the late Acharya.
Similarly, Nepali Congress leader Narahari Acharya said that political parties should respect the contributions of Tanka Prasad Acharya by promulgating new constitution in time.
On the occasion, UML leader Nepal released a book entitled ´Tanka Prasad Acharya and Today´s Nepal´ published by the Tanka Prasad Acharya Memorial Foundation.
Acharya, born in Nawalparasi district in 1969 B.S, had become country´s prime minister in 2012 B.S.
