A joint meeting of Kathmandu valley based chicken farmers, sellers and feed producers held on Sunday took the decision to reduce the prices.
With the revision in price, farmers will get Rs 130 per kg for live chicken. Traders will sell live chicken to customers at Rs 140 per kg. Chicken price has been going down since September when the price touched an all time high of Rs 255 per kg.
Narayan Hari Khatri, president of valley-based Feed Producers´ Association, said gradual increment in chicken population in farms contributed to the continued fall in the price of chicken.
However, chicken price will not go down further as the population of chicken at farms is at its highest level and it will not increase further.
According to entrepreneurs, existing population of broiler chicken across the country hovers around 3.5 million heads.
Chicken price rises to Rs 410 per kg
