Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal released the book entitled Constituent Assembly: Election to Demise. Journalist Rajendra Phuyal authored the book based on his independent research and his observation as a parliamentary reporter during the CA election and four-year tenure of the dissolved legislature.[break]
Former CA member Ramesh Lekhak of Nepali Congress, commenting on the book, said Phuyal has made honest presentation of the debates, disputes and works done in the CA. "There was a prolonged labor pain during the CA´s birth and there was a serious agony in 601 CA members and in the public. The author has brilliantly presented the over four-year-long saga in this book," Lekhak said at the gathering.
He said Phuyal has recorded some rare and historically important anecdotes that took place during the discussions in the House meeting and CA´s thematic committee deliberations. "He has aptly analyzed the trends and tendencies seen within the CA," he added. "He has rightly made cruel criticism over some negative characters and incidents as well."
The erstwhile CA Chairman Subas Nembang said that the facts, figures and documents recorded in the book will help independent readers and researchers and the public judge the role played by political parties and leaders in the CA.
Also, Senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, UCPN-Maoist General Secretary Posta Bahadur Bogati, NC General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, former Chief Election Commissioner Bhoj Raj Pokharel and Kantipur daily Editor Sudheer Sharma said that the book help political leaders and others working in the field of constitution writing to find out the reasons that led the previous CA to its demise and to learn a lesson for the to-be-elected CA.
