Around 17,800 died in conflict

BANKE, Nepalgunj, June 17: Some 17,800 people died during the conflict in the country, said chief of the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, Relief and Reconstruction Unit, Ganesh Prasad Upadhyay.



At an interaction organized in Nepalgunj on relief provided to the conflict-hit in mid-western regional level, Chief Upadhyay said Rs. 100,000 has been provided to the families of some 13,893 of the dead in the conflict. [break]



He said Rs 700,000 was already provided to the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police personnel killed in conflict. Rs. 200,000 each was provided to the family of 9,000 killed.



The army and police did not get the amount as they had been given Rs. 200,000 from the special programme, the ministry said.
