KATHMANDU, March 9: The Election Commission (EC) has said that all remaining processes related to the House of Representatives election held on March 5 will be completed by the first third week of March.
EC spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said the EC expects to complete all procedures, including issuing certificates to candidates elected under the proportional representation (PR) system, within that timeframe.

According to Bhattarai, the EC expects the vote counting under the proportional representation system to be completed across the country by Tuesday. Once the counting is finished, the commission will request political parties to submit the names of candidates to be selected from their closed proportional lists, based on the percentage of valid votes each party has received.
After receiving the names from the parties, the commission will verify them according to the required cluster representation system and finalize the list of elected members before issuing certificates.
The EC said candidates elected under the first-past-the-post (direct) system have already received their certificates from the respective election officers’ offices.
According to the latest election results, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is leading in both the direct and proportional representation categories.
