How did you get into acting?

Films and television shows had always fascinated me but I wasn't interested in acting until last year when I decided to try my luck. I was part of an advertisement for Panasonic and then I appeared in a small role in a film,

'Badmashiyaan' that released in March this year.

I even booked for a show in Star TV, but that didn't work out due to some issues. After a while, I got a call to audition for this show and I gave a couple of look tests and here I am!

What was it about your character and the show that excited you?

The show is basically a situational comedy. It's not one of those typical daily soaps that we have been watching on television in the past years. It's a fun show with a new concept and I get to play a character that, in some ways, is like me yet very different. Also, the fact that this show is the first of its kind really excited me.

What did you do to prepare for your character?

I didn't take any acting classes but we did have a couple of workshops before the shooting started in June this year. I was asked to look at a couple of characters to prepare myself. Then the production house also got me an acting coach who was with me during the shoots. It helped me connect more with the characters and understand the genre of the show.

The fact that I studied in India helped me because my Hindi is pretty decent. Of course, I have to work on my diction but being familiar with the language was an added bonus.

How would you sum up your experience so far?

It's been a great couple of months. The working hours are long and hectic because when you have a telecast of five episodes per week you have to be shooting scenes constantly. I work almost every day of the month and Mumbai is my base for now. I live here with my sister who is a fashion designer.

'2015 Jaane Kya Hoga Aagey' airs every Monday to Friday at 9:45 PM on Sony TV.
