The office further said people from India have allegedly encroached upon public land in at Inarwa in Madar VDC and have planted banana trees. They have also established a customs office there.
Similarly, Indians have set up thatched houses on no man´s land from Avengar to Thadi. At least 35 Indian families have also occupied Nepali territory in Bariyarpatti after shifting the border pillar seven meters inwards Nepal.
A local intellectual at Thadi Kanhaiya Lal Bhatta said that no Nepali authority has shown any attention to the customs office set up by India even though it is in operation for years. "Since there has been no protest from Nepal, Indians have started settling here," he said.
Thakur said that his office, however, had taken up the issue to the Indian side but they had ignored it completely.
