Speaking at a function on Sunday at Police headquarter on the occasion of 57th Police Day, Gachchhadar said police officers need to stay away from personal benefit to protect the police organization from being contaminated. [break]
He said, “If some police officials are involved in non-professional activities and against the motives of the police organization, the loss ultimately will have to be faced by the whole organization.” He added that police needed to be always alert to keep the institution fair.
He said, “Despite lots of challenges, the ideal of Nepal Police is to serve the people and remain dedicated to welfare of the people as a backbone of the internal security of the nation.”
DPM Gachchhadar on behalf of government assured to equip the police with necessary infrastructure and logistics so as to make the institution more competent. He also praised the contributions made by police officers to ensure security to people by facing challenges since its establishment.
In the program Inspector General of the Police (IGP) Kuber Singh Rana vowed police would perform its duty with professional ethics by being sensitive to human rights protection issues.
In the function DPM Gachchhadar offered flower to Amar Police Monument and also presented letter of appreciation to members of the families of the police officials, who lost their lives in course of performing duty.
IGP Rana awarded best police officers and personnel, writers and different people who supported police in the fiscal year 2011\\12. Among those awarded were DIG Narayan Bastakoti who is head of security at TIA, DIG Ganesh Raj Rai, SSP Hemanta Bahadur Paal, SSP Ganesh KC among others.
Inspector Gobinda Karki was awarded by the best Traffic Police, Sub Inspector Badri Khadka was awarded the best community police, Sub Inspector Mandev Kunmar Khwash won the best trainer, and police constable Chandrakala Thapa won the best player of the year and sub inspector Prem Bhadur Chand was awarded the brave police of the year.
The function was attended by Home Secretary Nabin Kumar Ghimire, chief of Armed Police Force Kosh Raj Wonta, heads of other security forces, family members of the police personnel who sacrificed their lives for the nation. They had had offered flowers at the monument of the police personnel.
