The program, started by YUWA – Center of Youth Studies (CYS) is back for its second year with the program, Youth Studies 2012. [break]
The program calls for young students between the ages of 15-25, preferably from the Humanities background.
“Youth studies is a program that helps youth tackle their own problems, it’s a platform for young people to find and voice their own opinions,” says Richa Bhattarai, the 23 year old Youth Studies Coordinator at YUWA. “We had 12 participants for our program last year and we got very good feedback from these participants, which was one of the main reasons we went on to conduct it this year,” she adds.

The Youth Studies, a six-day course running for 3 hours each day, is an interdisciplinary course that works on providing theoretical and practical knowledge on the youth through various youth friendly methodologies.
It aims to equip the young people of the country with conceptual understanding of their sub-culture and its issues.
“I think Youth Studies is a very good platform for young likeminded people to come and discuss issues together. The program has no hierarchy and is built around participant involvement. It helps us thinks differently and changes you as a young person preparing to be an integral and important part of the society,” says graduate of Youth Studies 2011, 24-year-old Regan Singh. “I would definitely join Youth Studies again if I could,” he informs.
Focused at creating a platform for the youth to use youth-friendly methodologies to seek answers to their own problems, the course is divided into four parts - Conceptual Understanding of Youth, Major Global and National Policies on Youth, Methodologies and Assignments.
