Submitting a nine-point memorandum to head of the election government Khila Raj Regmi at Singha Durbar on Monday, YCL also demanded a ratio of one youth among every three candidates in the upcoming election. [break]
“The chairman of the election government assured us that he will announce the date of the election soon, in accordance with the agreement among the major parties,” Ganesh Man Pun, chief of YCL, told Republica.
“He also urged us to form an environment for elections and pressure the political parties, saying he was in a hurry to hold the election and he had been nominated solely for holding elections.”
According to Pun, Regmi said the government is preparing to hold the election before November third week.
YCL also submitted memorandums incorporating local issues to all the district administration offices.
According to the memorandum, YCL also demanded that there be no mention of any threshold of votes in the upcoming election. YCL’s mother party UCPN (Maoist) and the fringe parties are against the threshold of one percent of valid votes.
Similarly, YCL also demanded that the budget be youth-friendly, arguing that youths should be ensured of their identity and representation in all bodies of the state.
YCL also demanded an environment for elections and controlling of sky-rocketing prices, corruption and the black market.
