KATHMANDU, April 18: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday demanding deferral of the upcoming General Convention of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ).

Arguing that the FNJ failed to conduct election of its Kathamndu district chapter in free and fair manner as per its statute, Purna Karki and Rakesh Mishra filed the petition at the apex court.

The petitioners have sought a court order for holding another round of election of the FNJ Kathmandu district chapter.

“FNJ´s General Convention scheduled for May 3 to 4 should be deferred until fresh election,” states the petition.
