Writ filed at SC demanding cancellation of expense limit

KATHMANDU, Nov 8: The All Nepal Progressive Farmers´ Association has filed a writ petition at Supreme Court, demanding the cancellation of the election expense limit set by the government and the Election Commission.



The Association informed about the writ petition at SC at a press conference in the Capital City on Friday. Association Chairman Shambhu Prasad Pandey said the writ was filed, demanding a mandamus order in order to guarantee all people´s access to the election and not to affect election with economic influence.[break]



Although the EC and the government have said an FPTP candidate can spend as much as Rs 1 million while the proportional one spends as much as Rs 75,000, some parties are not strong enough to spend Rs. 10,000 in the election publicity, said Mr Pandey.
