The club is organizing the tournament during the 19th Teej Festival, according to Buddhi Khatri, former co-ordinator of the organizing committee.
New Diamond, Tribhuvan Army Club and Rupandehi are in Group A, while Armed Police Force Club, Western and Mid-western regions are in Group B of the tournament to be played in league-cum-knockout format till Wednesday.
The winner and runner-up will carry a purse of Rs 50,100 and Rs 30, 100 respectively. Similarly, teams finishing third and fourth will receive Rs 15,100 and Rs 10,100. Best players in various sections will get gift hampers, according to the host.
Khatri informed that the amount collected from the tournament will be spent on international level football ground being constructed Lamachaur. National Sports Council (NSC) has provided Rs 4.4 million and the government has allocated Rs one million, according to Khatri, secretary of Lamacharu Ground Construction Committee.
Meanwhile, Sher Bahadur Foundation on Saturday provided sports kits worth Rs 110,000 to women volleyball players of New Diamond Academy, defending champion of the tournament.
Ranjan Khadka, president of the foundation as well as former volleyball player, and Sita Khadka, vice-president of the foundation, handed over the sports kits to Kumar Rai, coach of the academy.
