Her body was found on the veranda of her house at around 4:30 p.m., the police said. Rai was hit on her head with a sharp weapon, Sub Inspector of Police Bal Bahadur Thapa said.
Police have detained her husband Harka Bahadur Rai for investigation. The couple has three sons and two daughters.
