Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, government spokesperson Shankar Pokharel said the meeting also said such activities not only violate the CPA but also threaten to derail the ongoing peace process. “These activities will affect cooperation and consensus among political parties,” he said.
According to Pokharel, the government also directed security agencies under the aegis of Home Ministry to work in an integrated manner to bolster security situation in the country.
The directives come in the wake of the main opposition party providing military training to its cadres in preparation of a "decisive war to topple the current Madhav Kumar Nepal-led coalition government".
The meeting directed the chiefs of Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Investigation Department to jointly develop strategies and plans to deal with the upcoming Maoist protests.
