Western Region accumulated altogether 91 points in the tournament while Mid-western Region finished runner-up with 68 points.
Central Region claimed the third spot with 41 points.[break]
Western Region collected 71 points from athletics with 10 gold, five silver and three bronze medals and won both the boys´ and girls´ volleyball finals.
Mid-western claimed seven golds, eight silvers and one bronze in athletics and finished runner-up in girls´ volleyball to collect 68 points.
The winner Western Region bagged Rs 15,000 while runner-up Mid-western and third position holder Central Region received Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 respectively.
Western Region girls defeated Mid-western 25-14, 25-19 in volleyball final at the National Sports Council (NSC) covered hall on Tuesday, while Western boys struggled past Far-western 25-14, 26-24 in the boys´ final.
Krishna, Ashish win four gold medals each
Krishna Chaudhary of Western Region won four individual gold medals during the national tournament. Her team also won gold in girls´ 4x100 meters relay, ahead of Mid-western and Central Region respectively.
Likewise, she leaped 4.78 meters to win gold in girls´ long jump on Tuesday at the Dasharath Stadium. Shila Kumari Chaudhary of Mid-western and Mira Khadka of Central Region finished in the second and third positions respectively.
Krishna´s teammate Prabha Chaudhary clinched gold in girls´ high jump after crossing the 1.35-meter bar in her first attempt. Shila Kumari Chaudhary finished second in the event. She jumped the same height as Prabha did but cleared it only in her second attempt.
Ashish Chaudhary ´A´ of Mid-western Region also won four gold medals during the tournament. Chaudhary won the boys´ 200 meters sprint with a timing of 23.8 seconds.
He bagged his third gold in boys´ long jump with a jump of 5.95 meters and claimed the fourth gold in boys´ 4x100 meters relay.
In boys´ 5000 meter race, Mina Rashi BK of Western Region clocked 16 minutes 31.48 seconds to win gold while Sagar Karki of Central Region and Chandra Bahadur Nepali of Mid-western Region claimed silver and bronze respectively.
Likewise, Khem Raj Shahi of Mid-western won the boys´ shotput. He threw the shotput 12.13 meters to take gold. Bir Bahadur Pun of Western Region and Mithun Limbu of Eastern Region finished second and third respectively.
Minister for Youth and Sports Hit Bahadur Tamang handed over the prizes to the winners during the closing ceremony of the tournament. The event was organized by National Sports Council with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
