Krishna Chaudhary of Western Region won the girls´ 100m sprint with a timing of 13.25 seconds, while Binod Gurung clocked 4 minutes 23.06 seconds to win gold in boys´ 1500m race. Anju Chaudhary won the third gold for Western Region in girls´ javelin throw with a distance of 33.05 meters.[break]
Sanju Chaudhary of Mid-western Region and Mira Khadka of Central Region finished second and third respectively in the girls´ 100m sprint. Likewise, Min Rashi BK of Western Region finished behind teammate Gurung in boys´ 1500m. Govinda Mahato of Central Region finished third in the event.
Dhana Maya Thapa (Mid-western) and Jeet Kumari Mahato (Central) claimed silver and bronze medals respectively in girls´ javelin throw.
Mid-western Region athlete Ashish Chaudhary ´A´ took gold in boys´ 100m race with a timing of 11.24 seconds, while Raj Kumar Chaudhary of Central Region and Raj Kumar Chaudhary of Eastern Region claimed silver and bronze medals.
Sushma Rai of Eastern Region clocked 5 minutes 24 seconds to complete 1500m to claim gold in the girls´ section. Kamala Budha (Mid-western) and Mandira Kumari Yadav (Central) finished second and third respectively.
Ishwar Shrestha of Eastern Region threw 44.56 meters to take gold in boys´ javelin throw, while Aashik Rana Magar (Central) and Num Narayan Gurau (Western) claimed silver and bronze medals respectively.
Meanwhile, Mid-western, Eastern, Western and Far-western regions entered the semifinals of boys´ volleyball, while Mid-western, Far-western, Western and Central regions reached the last four in the girls´ section.
Minister for Youth and Sports Hit Bahadur Tamang inaugurated the three-day event at the Dasharath Stadium on Sunday morning.
The tournament is organized by the National Sports Council with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
