With the onset of spring, it’s finally time to shed bulky dull winter cardigans and jackets and get into light, floral printed and bright colored attires.
Monika Malla, a staff at Designs 4 less at City Centre, Kamal Pokhari, says this year’s spring summer collection has already hit the fashion market that is full of bright and fresh colored attires.
Floral dresses and skirts, party wear dresses and gowns, flowery tops and checked and flowery shirts and jumpsuits are also in fashion.
She further informed that high waisted jeans, high waisted formal pants and shorts, mini dresses, cotton shorts, wedges and printed sneakers, pattern prints with a variety of animal figures, floral patterns, ruffles and watercolor prints are also trendy and on high demand.

“The collection this season is fresh and creative something that is apt for our weather and streets,” says Monika.
Chetnath Nepal, a staff of Denizen store at Civil Mall informed that for men, skinny jeans, regular straight jeans, and slim straight jeans are in.
The regular V and round neck, collar neck shirts and checked half and full shirts are also in. As for girl’s, super skinny jeans and t-shirts for casual wear are hitting the market this season.
“Since summer is on, the most followed trend will be shorts with colorful hugging t-shirts and gladiator sandals. Printed summer dresses, colorful and bright colored outfits, chunky necklaces, flowy tank tops, cuffed jean shorts with belts and two-toned dresses is also very much in trend for this spring summer season,” says Anisha Shah, 23.
Anisha, however, does not follow stereotypical fashion trends and is selective and wears only those clothes that suit her. “For me fashion is experimenting with everything. I also usually coordinate my ensemble with accessories to create my own look,” she says.
Talking about how she gets inspiration and ideas to look trendy, Anisha admits to be an avid reader of fashion magazines. “I also go through a lot of fashion sites online, to keep myself updated,” she says.
For Prajwal Thapa, 24, who keeps himself updated with latest trends, fashion is all about expression through what one wears. Talking about the most recent trend that’s in town, he says, “Jeans teamed up with V-neck t-shirts, leather jackets and wayfarers is what’s in these days. Ragged and faded jeans have also made a reentry this season.”

Fashion this season is all about being comfortable and casual explains Prajwal. “Safari pants and shorts, checked shirts, polo shirt teamed up with light colored shoes will be just perfect,” he adds.
Sanjila Rai, a staff at Comfort Zone, a shop in Civil Mall, informed that chiffon shirts, jump suits, cotton tops, shorts and quarter pants, one piece dresses, and casual t-shirts are in trend this season.
Sanjila, who feels comfortable wearing shorts and casual t-shirts, thinks that this season it’s all about mixing and experimenting with different colors and outfits.
Prerna Mukhia, 23, thinks that fashion is following whatever is in trend and also being comfortable with what one wears. “This season we can see a lot of people wearing under knee length formal skirts as formals, and dark, washed out, torn denims for casual wear,” she adds.
For this Spring Summer season, apart from usual bright colors, bold and eye catching colors and hues like orange, neon and tangerine and neutral shades like beige and colors like brown and rust are predicted to be in trend. Prints and colorful patterns will also hit the fashion scene.
Seventies fashion has made a huge comeback and so there will be a revival of the high waist denims and other trends from the seventies.
Fashion and trends change with every season so people should always give more priority to their body type than just follow blindly what’s ‘in’,” says Subeegya Pokhrel, 21, and adds, “I always look for what I will look best in and if I feel comfortable wearing it. I generally prefer body flattering clothes with a touch of bright fresh colors in shoes and accessories.”
