For many who have seen the original film, WAF will turn out to be a complete waste of money but for those who haven’t, the film is a complete package of family drama high on emotional quotient. [break]Nonetheless, the biggest minus of the film is, even those who haven’t seen the original version can actually predict what would come next as film proceeds.
Aman (Arjun Rampal) is a photographer who is into live-in relationship with Shreya (Kareena Kapoor), a fashion designer. Maya (Kajol), who divorced Aman, take care of their three children.

Aman decides to tie knot with Shreya, but before that he wants her to get along with his kids. This is not an easy feat for Shreya as all three kids and Maya completely hate her. Irrespective of the efforts Shreya makes to bring children close to her, she fails utterly.
Soon, Maya is diagnosed of cervical cancer, a life threatening disease. Aman decides to come to his family and chooses to split from Shreya after he comes to know about Maya’s predicament. In the meantime, Maya decides to bring home Shreya and allows her to get close her children so as to make sure that the children don’t feel alone after she’s gone. The rest of the film moves on to show the struggles the family goes through to live with the tragedy.
Well…director and scriptwriter of the film Siddharth Malhotra cannot be congratulated for anything. But the reason producer and director Karan Johar invests in the film is a question that would puzzle many. May be it’s because Johar found some “Kal Ho Naa Ho” flavor in this film.

We can no more say Rock On to Arjun Rampal because here he just delivers his average performance. Kareena Kapoor surprisingly isn’t too loud like she is seen mostly in her other films. Kajol’s freckles and wrinkles on her skin take her extremely close to her character of a cancer patient. Besides, she still has that Dil Wale Dulhaniya Le Jayengey charm when it comes to her acting.
The best thing in the film is three children who have sashayed their roles superbly. Munjal, Nominath Ginsburg and Diya Sonecha actually outstand from the lead three actors of the film and they are just too adorable in the film. Diya Sonecha (Anjali), the smallest in the film, gives a powerhouse performance.
Even Shankar Ehsaan and Loy’s music sound a bit repetitive in the film. The first half is fun and post intermission the emotion level boils above the mercury level. Indeed, those who haven’t seen Step Mom will love this film. WAF is certainly a family entertainer.
