Villages at risk of floods, landslips

DADELDHURA, Aug 29: Dozens of villages in inner Tarai and hilly areas are under the threat of flood and landslips.



Three dozen villages in Alital, Shirsha and Jogbudha VDCs are being threatened by flooded rivers, according to Lal Bahadur Thapa, a local. Of them, the Godam bazaar, Mauri, Ghumtibagar, Dayanikhet, Raujali, Dainigaun, Shyalchaudi, and Jaukhet villages of Alital VDC face the biggest risk.



“Dozens of villages are facing the threat of landslip,” said Chief District Officer Prem Lal Lamichhane. “Every day, locals from more than a dozen VDCs arrive asking for relief saying they are victims of landslips,” he said.
