UPCN (Maoist) refutes extortion reports

KATHMANDU, June 3: The UCPN (Maoist) on Monday, expressing its serious concerns, rubbished recent news reports that the party has launched a forced donation drive.



Issuing a press statement, UCPN (Maoist) Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota said that his party condemns such media reports as they were ‘false’ and ‘biased’. [break]



“Our party condemns the trend of publishing false and imaginary news stories in the name of professional and free media,” reads the statement.



The statement also accused the media outlets of working under the influence of ‘status qoutist’ forces and ‘regressive diplomatic missions.’



“It has posed a serious question whether the media outlets working in the interest of expansionist forces” the statement further states.



It has also warned that such dissemination of false information could jeopardize the new Constituent Assembly elections.
