UNICEF provides Rs 98 million to quake survivors

GORKHABAZAAR (Gorkha), Aug. 25: The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), working for children's rights, survival, development and protection, has provided relief amounts to the April 25 earthquake survivors in the district.

Local Development Officer Premraj Giri said that the quake victims including elderly, single women and differently-able people in particular, who lost their houses to the devastating quake, received Rs 3,000 each in relief.


He said that the UN agency provided about Rs 98 million to the quake survivors in the district so far.

The relief amount was channelized through the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development and concerned VDC secretaries were mobilized in its distribution, it is stated. RSS
