The former PM´s statement comes just days ahead of the ruling UML´s politburo and central committee meetings slated for Monday and Tuesday to decide the party´s stance over the issue. [break]
Stating that the CPN-UML wouldn´t change its stance on the former rebels, Nepal said, "Maoists can´t be allowed to lead the security-related ministries as long as they have arms and armies." He was talking to reporters upon his arrival at Biratnagar airport.
"The Maoists needn´t protract this row," he said, urging them to be flexible in their approach.
Nepal said that the Nepali Congress (NC) should also be accommodated in the government. He also ruled out the possibility of left polarization.
He termed the seven-point deal reached secretly between the Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal as ´erroneous´ and pointed out the need to accomplish the task of concluding the peace process and constitution-writing.
