KATHMANDU, Sept. 21: CPN-UML´s youth wing – Youth Association Nepal (YAN) – has registered a complaint at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) demanding probe into the alleged corruption in the camps of Unified CPN (Maoist)´s combatants.

A team including central office-bearers of the YAN reached the CIAA office and registered corruption charges against UCPN (Maoist) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice-chairperson and Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Organization Department Head Krishna Bahadur Mahara on Friday citing corruption in the name of combatants in the camps. They filed corruption case at the anti-graft body seeking investigation into a corruption of Rs 4 billion from the state coffers by UCPN (Maoist) by presenting fake combatants in the camps, said YAN general secretary Niraj Acharya.

´We lodged complaint demanding probe against Maoist leaders in the context when the UCPN (Maoist) itself has accepted corruption in the name of PLA ex-fighters´, he added.

The UCPN (Maoist) has already initiated investigation admitting corruption in the camps of combatants while Army Integration Special Committee members representing Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have been demanding probe in this connection.

Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai had pledged to cooperate the investigation into the corruption within the camps following the committee members raised concerns on the matter at the meeting held on September 3.
