"If a majority government can complete peace process and constitution drafting we would have seen the new constitution and completion of peace process long ago. A majority government was already formed in the past and one is still at helm. Therefore, why UML should support a majority government that cannot guarantee peace and constitution?" he said during an interaction at his residence in Dallu Tuesday.[break]
UML will not backtrack from its stand of formation of a consensus government and the party´s Central Committee meeting starting from tomorrow will also not change this stance, he said.
Saying that more challenges lie ahead now and the need and importance of national consensus has further increased, he said, "If consensus cannot be forged now, the possibility of drafting constitution within the next five and half months is slim, thus inviting another conflict in the country."
The Hattiban and Gorkarna meetings were close to consensus, he said, adding that parties should be serious once against and forge consensus.
