"Rest assured and mark my words. The parliament session will surely elect a new prime minister," Oli told reporters at Biratnagar airport on Monday.
He said his party will concentrate all its efforts to form new government under UML leadership. "We will try our level best to form a UML-headed government," he said.
He, however, dismissed reports that said there is high possibility of UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal becoming the new prime minister as rumor. "Anyone who can secure majority will be the new prime minister."
Oli clearly ruled out any possibility of a Maoist-led government until the former rebel party completely detaches itself from its arms and troops. "First, the UCPN (Maoist) should transform itself into a truly civilian party. Then only the Maoists can head a government," he said.
