Addressing a gathering of party workers at the party headquarters, Khanal said Maoists´ campaign of killing and intimidating is "none other than feudal and fascist" characters. "This can in no way be a communist character," said Khanal. "The Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) is still nurturing this kind of fascist character."
He warned of waging a revolt against Maoists if the latter don´t correct their "anarchic behaviours". [break]
Leader of the second largest partner in the Maoist-led six-party ruling coalition, Khanal urged the Maoists to change. "We ask you to change yourself. Otherwise, CPN-UML will be compelled to take serious measures."
He also said CPN-UML should be made ready for a broader leftist unity. He said the party´s eighth national convention scheduled to be held on 16-21 February should be able to give "a message" to the whole nation. "It is certain that there will be a new wave of unity and restructuring (in the communist movement)," he said, adding that UML would lead the "new wave" of leftist unity after its convention.
Stating that the Maoists are not serious about the peace process, another UML leader KP Sharma Oli said the Maoists have undermined the constitution and the rule of law by declaring that they will seize the state power.
Oli claimed that New Nepal was not possible in the Maoist leadership, adding that the peace process has reached "critical juncture" because of Maoists. He warns that the Maoists will be finished if they continue their ultra-leftist behaviours, which are the "main challenges" facing the country.
