KATHMANDU, April 20: The ruling party CPN-UML is all set to make a formal request to extend the CA tenure in a meeting between the big three parties on Wednesday, informed its chairman Jhala Nath Khanal on Tuesday.

Speaking at a program in the capital Khanal said that they would not reach out to the people unless the new constitution was promulgated. [break]

"Present deadlock should be cleared through consensus," Khanal opined.

He also said that the fringe parties would also be requested to accept the proposal of his party on CA term extension.

The Parliamentary Party meeting of UML which concluded on Monday has already decided to request for an extension of CA tenure as it believed that the promulgation of the new statute by May 28 was not possible.

However, the meeting has not been able to suggest for how long the term should be extended.
