Shrestha reportedly eloped with a woman cadre causing UML ‘serious offend by his moral behavior and activities’, the commission concluded.[break]
Shrestha, a former Maoist, joined UML just before the election of Constituent Assembly and was nominated the politburo member. He was minister for general administration in Madhav Kumar Nepal-led government.
The commission directed the central committee to further investigate Shrestha’s case and take further action.
The commission headed by Amrit Kumar Bohara also suspended Hamid Miya Ansari, the ambassador to Saudi Arabia, for his financial mis-conduct. Ansari, who was appointed on UML recommendation, has reportedly misused the compensation money for those killed in Saudi Arabia.
