Irate locals in the district headquarters of Rautahat doused the CPN-UML office in kerosene before setting it on fire. Furniture and other essential documents in the party office turned into ashes, according to Kamal Yadav, district chair of the party.
Meanwhile, the family members of Rajkishor Thakur have refused to receive his body for the last three days. The body of Thakur, who died in the police firing on Tuesday, is still at Gaur Hospital.
According to the bereaved families and protestors, they will not collect Thakur's body unless the government fulfills their demands, including declaring him a martyr, compensation to the family, erection of his statue at the incident site and proper investigation into the incident, among others.
In Birgunj, the police escorted around 445 vehicles and containers carrying passengers and goods to reach their destinations, according to Chief District Officer (CDO) Keshav Raj Ghimire.
"We'll try to obstruct the resumption of vehicles from Thursday," said Pradeep Yadav, Parsa district chief of Federal Socialist Forum Nepal.
