KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Cabinet meeting on Wednesday was put off without entering formal agenda as CPN-UML ministers protested against the Maoist plan to bring another five ordinances. A cabinet meeting last week passed three ordinances that have yet to be promulgated by the president.

“Because of the UML minister’s stance on the ordinances, we could not continue today’s meeting,” said Minister for Culture and State Restructuring Gopal Kiranti.

Cabinet members belonging to two largest parties in the ruling six-party coalition differed over ordinances just two days after their top leaders agreed in principle to issue ordinances only on urgent matters and not promote the culture of bypassing the parliament.
