UML chairman warns of constitutional crisis

KATHMANDU, Oct 17: Chairman of CPN-UML Jhala Nath Khanal has warned of constitutional and national crisis in the country if all political parties fail to move ahead with the consensus and unity.



Speaking at a program in Bhaktapur on Saturday, he said there is no alternative to alliance of democratic and change seeker forces in the country. Khanal said it would be unfortunate if new constitution was not drafted within the stipulated timeframe and stressed on to do away with differences among the political parties. [break]



Chairman Khanal said the present polarization, bitterness and struggle between the government and the opposition party has hindered the constitution drafting process.



Khanal focused on the parties´ unity for taking the peace process to a logical end, drafting the new constitution, state restructuring, economic prosperity and national unity.
