KATHMANDU, Feb 16
: Central Committee (CC) of the CPN-UML assigned the Standing Committee (SC) to come up with party’s official stance on the chief justice-led (CJ) election government.

Speaking with reporters after the hours-long CC meeting at party office, Balkhu on Saturday, CC member Bidhya Bhandari said that the party will keep all options open to replace the present government. [break]

While other CC member Bamdev Gautam said that the party will stick to democratic practice and established principles of separation of the power while taking the final decision. However, both leaders didn’t divulge details of the meeting.

Though the party has not made its decision public, it has been learnt that the majority of the CC members demanded resignation of the CJ from his post if he is to lead the government. "We have demanded chief justice resignation first if he is to lead the government," Yogesh Bhattarai said.

UML’s decision over the proposal will be crucial at the moment as the Nepali Congress has already decided to keep all options open while the Madhes-based parties have said they were ready for the alternatives.
