UCPN (Maoist) to launch campaign in Terai-Madhesh

KATHMANDU, Sept 5: The UCPN (Maoist) is all set to launch a special campaign in the districts of southern plain targeting November 19 Constituent Assembly (CA) elections.



The UCPN (Maoist) has also claimed that people´s wave to the party in Tarai district is encouraging compared to past. Ram Chandra Jha, who had joined the UCPN (Maoist) by deserting the CPN (UML) some months ago, has been appointed the in-charge of Madhes Bureau to launch the campaign effectively, targeting the upcoming election.[break]



The Madhes Bureau of the UCPN (Maoist) has decided to kickstart the election campaign aggressively stating that Tarai-Madhes is strategically important region in the Nepali politics.



Newly appointed in-charge Jha claimed that there would be no strong presence of other parties in the upcoming CA election in the Tarai region.



Likewise, the UCPN (Maoist) has decided to resolve the intra-party feuds in Madhes constructively and mobilize the entire force with full strength.



Likewise, the party is expected to forge alliance with the likeminded political parties in the region.



Similarly, the election fever has gripped the party leaders and cadres as the top leaders of the UCPN (Maoist) are contesting the election from the Tarai constituencies.



Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ´Prachanda´ has announced his candidacy from Dhanusha district while leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai will contest from Rupandehi district.



UCPN (Maoist) leader Giriraj Mani Pokhrel said that the party has accorded top priority to the election constituencies in Tarai and the cadres would visit the people´s doorsteps.



Pokhrel said that the party would unveil new strategy for election to win more seats from Tarai.



Likewise, another leader of the UCPN (Maoist) Shrwan Yadav said that the party has been focusing its election programmes by keeping the sentiments and aspirations of People´s War, People´s Movement and Madhes Movement in mind.



Furthermore, the party has been collecting people´s suggestions from Madhes for drafting election manifesto.



Coordinator of the Election Manifesto Drafting Committee Dr Baburam Bhattarai said suggestions of people would be taken by organizing interactions in major cities in the region.



Such interactions would be organized in Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar, Dang, Butwal, Chitwan, Birgunj, Sarlahi, Janakpur, Biratnagar and Dharan.
