“The new comers Aryal and Jha have been given the responsibility as central committee members and Sherpa as alternative central committee member.” Agni Sapkota, the spokesperson for the UCPN (Maoist) said. He added, “They have committed to follow the party’s policies and principles while assuming their new responsibilities.”
Previously, it was speculated that Jha and Aryal would be made standing committee members of the Maoist party but that could not happen due to the ongoing internal rifts within the party.
Meanwhile, Madheshi and female leaders have mounted pressure on the party leadership to reconsider on Jha and Aryal´s appointment respectively.
