Two NA convoys stranded in Haiti

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: At least two convoys of Nepal Army (NA) have been stranded due to a landslide triggered by massive earthquake in Haiti on Wednesday.

 

According to a statement issued by Public Relations Directorate of NA, the convoys were stranded in Kenskoff area while they were on patrol. Both the vehicles and army personnel on board are safe.[break]

 

Major Prem Singh Basnyat, who was injured in the earthquake, is currently undergoing treatment at Level-2, Hospital. He is said to be in a stable condition.



The massive earthquake left the headquarters of UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti completely destroyed. A Tactical Mobile Headquarters has been erected for the rescue operation in the quake-ravaged areas.



Over 3,000 army personnel serving in the peace keeping operation are currently involved in rescue operation.



A medical team from NA´s Chandannath Batallion based in Mirebalais is currently providing treatment to the injured in Haiti´s capital city.
