Travelling KIMFF at the Sterling Club

KATHMANDU, Feb 5: The latest stop of the ‘Travelling KIMFF’ (Kathmandu International Mountain Film Festival) is the Sterling Club, British Embassy at Lainchaur. For the first episode at its newest venue ‘Summer Pasture,’ a film from USA and also the main award winner at KIMFF 2011 was screened on February 4, Friday.



Tina Stacy Ghale, the chair of the Sterling Club said that, she was excited about the new endeavor and expressed her wish for people to enjoy the screenings. “I hope

people like the idea and that it goes a long way,” she said. [break]



The five films selected, all award winners at various festivals around the world, are to be screened at the Sterling Club, every Friday at 7pm till March 2 .



Every year after the main festival is held (the 9th edition of KIMFF which was held from December 8 -12 being the last one) a package of selected films is taken around the country.







Pointing out the idea behind Traveling KIMFF Basanta Thapa, the chair of KIMFF said, “This is our effort to give the audiences outside Kathmandu an opportunity to watch world cinema.”



The Travelling Kimff this year kicked off from Sikles, a mountain village where film screenings were held on January 15 and 16.



Thapa hoped for long term collaboration between the festival and the club. “We look forward to many such events,” he said.



10th Feb: Journey to Yarsa, Audience Choice Award Winner (Nepal)
17th Feb: Family Instinct, 2nd Award Winner (Latvia)

24th Feb: The Dessert Eats us, Best film winner at the Nepal Panorama category

2nd March: Au-Dela des Cimes (Beyond the summits) 3rd Award Winner (France)
