Committee members and representatives of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) on Thursday met with UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and sought the latter´s support for the campaign, according to a press statement issued by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).[break]
Responding to the tourism delegation, Dahal expressed his commitment for the success of from his party and on his own behalf. He also termed tourism industry as the major factor for the prosperity of national economy. Dahal also assured the travel people that he would propose the high-level political mechanism to bring and end to incidents like bandas and stir.
The committee members had met CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel on Wednesday. Pokharel also assured the travel delegation of his and his party´s support to the year-long tourism promotional campaign.
FNCCI President Kush Kumar Joshi, National Coordinator of NTY Yogendra Shakya and members Ranjit Acharya, Dhrubanarayan Shrestha and Suman Pandey, along with NATTA President Arjun Prasad Sharma, NATO Vice President Ashok Pokharel and HAN President were present in the delegation.
Meanwhile, newly elected executive committee of Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA), led by its President Arjun Sharma, separately met with Maoist Chairman Dahal on Thurday. The delegation urged the Maoist party to bring and end to incidents like bandas and strikes. Dahal assured the NATTA delegation that his party would change the ongoing forms of protests so as to minimize the impact of the protests on tourism industry, according to a press statement issued by NATTA.
Sharma also requested the Maoist supreme to play a constructive role for the success of NTY campaign and press the government to acquire two aircraft in a transparent manner for the troubled national carrier.
