Transparency to develop code of conduct

KATHMANDU, Oct 12: The Transparency International (TI), Nepal is to develop a national code of conduct aimed at checking corruption and irregularities in the country.



A meeting of TI, Nepal held on Monday also decided to focus its activities on foreign assistance, development projects, fiscal discipline and revenue leakage.[break]



The organization is observing coming December 9 as the National Day against Corruption to garner national commitment and solidarity against corruption.



The recently held election of TI Nepal has elected former Attorney General Bishnu Bahadur KC its new Chairperson and former President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Ananda Raj Mulmi the Vice-Chairperson. Likewise, Srihari Aryal and Komal Chitrakar have been elected the General Secretary and Treasurer respectively.



Litterateur Ram Dayal Rakesh, former Election Commissioner Usha Nepal, Bharat Bahadur Thapa, Padmini Pradhananga have been elected as members of the Executive Committee, according to a statement issued by TI, Nepal.
