KATHMANDU, Sept. 24: The Metropolitan Traffic Police Range, Ramshahpath, is operating ´Citizen´s Help Desk´ from October 16.

Speaking in a news conference on Monday, Ganesh Rai, the Chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, said such help desks would be set up in 10 different places in the city to ease the traffic-related problems passengers face during the festivals. [break]

Rai informed journalists that the help desks would be run in Gongabu, Jorpati, Gaushala, Koteshwor, Satdobato, Balkhu, Kalanki, Nagdhunga, Sallaghari and Purano Buspark.

He said that the desks would address the grievances of the passengers as complaints of overcharging of the commuters traveling by public vehicles and the students denied of concession on the fare during the festive season are unusually high.

Rai said that the long-route vehicles´ drivers would be booked if the buses were found carrying more passengers than their capacity and are overcrowded.

Meanwhile, the transport entrepreneurs have announced that ticket bookings have opened for the Dashain and Tihar festivals effective September 26, considering the high number of passengers during the festive seasons.
