Tourist's entry from eastern border

KAKARBHITTA, Feb. 17: The first one and half month of the Nepal Tourism Year (NTY)-2011 did not turn so encouraging for the country´s eastern entry point, Kakarbhitta, as the office failed to welcome more tourists than the expected number.[break]



According to the Tourism Office, Kakarbhitta, a total of 485 people arrived in Nepal from the third countries in January of this year against the 476 visitors from the same destinations last year.



However, the office does not keep record the arrival of the Indian nationals.



During the period, 45 Bangladeshi, 145 South Koreans and 46 American nationals entered into Nepal via this border.



Similarly, 25 British nationals, 46 Japanese including from other countries arrived Nepal, said the Office.



The government has planned to bring in a total of one million tourists during the NTY-2011 in the country.
