Issuing a press statement, the Tharu body said it bears no meaning to go to federalism if the proposed federal states are endorsed without amendment. The TKS maintained that the federal states are determined in such a way that they continue to hold remnants of unitary state restructures.
The TKS said the formation of province of dominant ethnic group with broad range of rights will only address the demand of federalism in the country.
The TKS said the need of the country now is to have federal states that are economically viable.
It urged the CA to embrace federalism that devolves the power from center to the village in real terms and scientifically delineate federal states on the basis of geography, population and historical significance of the areas concerned.
It said the proposed provinces will only benefit the classes that are already enjoying power. "The federal states proposed in the Tarai will only benefit the ruling hill-origin and Madhesi people," the statement said.
