KOHALPUR, Dec 28: Tiger census has started in Banke National Park from Tuesday. Banke's Chief District Officer (CDO) Rabi Lal Pantha inaugurated the census amid a function.

The counting will be done using camera trapping technology. Sixty-one cameras have been installed to monitor the tiger population in the national park, according to the park's warden Dil Bahadur Pun. Four teams with six members each have been assigned to count the tigers in the park, he informed.
The census is estimated to cost about Rs 2 million, which includes the cost of batteries for the cameras, stationery, transportation, food and payments for the census teams. According to the last census, there were nine tigers in the park.
