Three die in fire

JUMLA, Feb 3: Three persons--a police woman and two children--were killed in a fire at Manma, the district headquarters of Kalikot, Thursday night.



Police woman Sunita Pariyar, 27, Sharmila Kathayat, 12 and Bimal Kathayat, 8 were charred to death when a fire broke at the house of Aja Bahadur Bam, originally from Dhaulagoh village of Kalikot, in Manma-5, according to Sub Inspector Netra Bahadur Shahi at District Police Office (DPO) of Kalikot. Pariyar, posted at Chapramo police post, had rented a room at Bam´s three-storey house. The mother of the two dead children mother Krishna Kathayat, who hails from Kusapani-8 in Dailekh, had also rented a room in the same house.



They were all asleep when the fire broke. Krishna saved her life by jumping out of the window.



It is yet to confirm what caused the fire that broke out on the second floor of the house.



It took Nepal Army (NA) personnel, police and locals almost one hour to douse the fire. Police say the fire damaged properties worth Rs one million.
